Festive Eggnog Dip

Create this Festive Eggnog Dip for a fun snack or dessert made from sweet leftovers.

Each winter, I buy my obligatory “’tis the season” carton of eggnog. Soon after enjoying the first cup, I’ve taken care of my craving—only to discover that I’m stuck with almost an entire carton of eggnog.

This season, instead of throwing away the leftovers, treat your family to a flavorful Festive Eggnog Dip. Paired with fresh fruit and cubed pound cake, this Festive Eggnog Dip is a fun way to enjoy the flavor of eggnog, but in another tasty form.



Festive Eggnog Dip

Serves 8
Prep time: 10 minutes
Chill time: 1 hour

1½ cups commercially prepared eggnog
1 Tablespoon cornstarch
½ cup sour cream
½ cup heavy whipping cream
1 Tablespoon sugar
1 teaspoon vanilla extract
1 drop yellow food coloring (optional)
Assorted sliced fresh fruit, such as apples, grapes, bananas and strawberries
1 pound cake, cut into 1-inch cubes
Toothpicks, for serving (optional)

1. In a small saucepan, combine the eggnog and cornstarch until smooth. Bring to a boil and stir for 2 minutes. Remove from heat.
2. Stir in sour cream and cool completely.
3. In a small bowl, beat whipping cream and sugar until stiff peaks form.
4. Fold into eggnog mixture, along with vanilla extract and food coloring.
5. Cover and refrigerate overnight. Serve with fresh fruit and cubed pound cake.
